Angus Biltong began the way many meaningful things do — around food, family, and the flavors of home.
Founded in May 2022 by Arthur and Maureen Marais, our story started long before the business itself. After moving to the United States, we found ourselves missing the unmistakable taste of traditional South African biltong and droëwors — the kind that instantly brings back memories of home, family gatherings, and shared laughter.
So we began making our own.
What started as a personal tradition quickly became something friends and neighbors looked forward to. For more than 20 years, we refined our recipes, experimented with flavors, and shared these handcrafted delicacies with the people around us. Again and again, we heard the same words: “You should sell this.”
Eventually, we decided to take a leap of faith.
In 2023, our son Brandon joined us, bringing his culinary experience and passion for great food. With two generations working side by side, Angus Biltong is more than a business — it is a family commitment to preserving tradition, honoring our roots, and sharing a taste of South Africa with our community.
Today, from our home base in Spring, Texas, we remain dedicated to doing things the right way: using quality ingredients, time-honored methods, and never cutting corners. Our goal has always been simple — create authentic, exceptional products that are accessible to everyone and worthy of being shared.
But Angus Biltong is about more than just biltong and droëwors.
